Sad news came through on the 19 November 2007 that former Warrington and Great Britain Rugby League captain Mike Gregory had died. Mike had been struggling for four years with a kind of motor neurone disease, a neurological problem that it is thought he picked up after being bitten by an insect whilst in Australia with the Great Britain Acadamy Rugby League team. What makes his death even more tragic is that Mike was the same age as me, 43. No age to lose your life.
Mike led his club and country with distinction and will best be remembered for a fantastic try against the mighty Kangaroos of Australia. Thanks for the memories Mike!
