Finally dragged my sorry arse out this morning to mop up a few year ticks… birds picked up by Dave Gray in the week he’s been off.
First up was the Black-tailed Godwit on Wanlip Meadows and next up was the Red Kite that seems to be lingering in the Watermead CP North/Pec Pit area. I couldn’t find any Smew on Pec Pit and the promising looking bit of waste ground opposite wasn’t holding any migrant Wheatear… only a matter of time though. It looks a superb bit of habitat for migrant chats and wagtails.
Next on to Birstall Gravel Pits where a lonesome Sand Martin was hawking around the edge of the Key Lakes whilst the Scaup was still with a small group of Tufties.
