Peak District National Park Names Famous Birding Hotspot After Celebrity

In a shock move the Peak District National Park have honoured former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Dane Bowers.  The former boyfriend of Katie Price also known as Jordan – she was honoured by the former King Hussein of Jordan for supporting the right of the Palestinians following the Six Day War with Israel – has had a disused quarry on the Derbyshire/Cheshire border named after him.

The Dane Bower Quarry has also recently become home to a colony of Ring Ouzels. The Ring Ouzel colony was formed by illegal releases of birds bred from caterpillars by collectors. These releases follow on from Black Grouse that were grown from seeds collected at Swallow Moss in Staffordshire. The Black Grouse seeds were kept in a freezer by George Bristow on St Leonards.

Dane Bowers was not available for comment but it is not thought he has started bird watching. If this proves popular other famous birding sites are expected to be named after famous celebrities. King George V Reservoir in London is expected to be named King Of Pop Reservoir in honour of the late, so called King Of Pop.
