Stand In The Place Where You Live

Now face North

Think about direction

Wonder why you haven’t before

Stand Athletic

Maybe the Directors of Stand Athletic FC should have thought about this back in the 2002-2003 season when after extending themselves by taking over the ground of Haslingden FC and moving their club from Whitefield. After rapidly climbing the football pyramid and winning the NWCL in 2001-2002, Stand Athletic FC fell apart and withdrew from the league after 12 games.

These photos were taken by Alistair Ness and I from a train on the East Lancs Railway a few weeks ago… a great non-leage football ground stands empty and unloved – a real shame but a lesson for football that probably will never be learned.
