Spent a long day way out west in the Pacific Rim National Park between Tofino and Ucluelet. We tried a few places for California Sea-lion and Sea Otter around the area and particularly in Ucluelet. Despite some good info from Park Ranger, Jordan – a Manure fan from Canada – we had to admit defeat.
Jordan had earlier led us on a very interesting walk through the Temperate Rainforest to Schooner Cove. A Goshawk and a couple of noisy Western Red Squirrel were the highlights before the heavens opened. Well rainforest wouldn’t be rainforest without rain… would it!
We did also have our first Stellar’s Jay and American Goldfinch of the trip. On the way back a Golden Eagle, up to four Turkey Vulture and a Raven were picked up at Sproat Lake.
