You see a few funny things down at Watermead Park when you’re vismigging but nothing could have prepared me for a flock of 21 Ethiopian and Somali Christians passing the Mammoth this morning.
In birding terms Dave and I were about to give up at 09.00 when all of a sudden Swallows and Mipits moving SE. Dave added another species to his City list when a Turtle Doveflew through WNW. Another good record was of four Sparrowhawk that moved through high to the SE. It might not be Falsterbo but with seven Common Buzzard the other day it’s our raptor hotspot.
After packing in the vismigging we headed over to Birstall Meadows for me to do my first official WeBS count. The highlights were 112 Teal, one Little Egret and a Ruff.
