Arriving on Holy Island or Lindisfarne, an Island tick for Dave, we were again quickly enjoying the birds or to be honest THE bird. Eastern Black Redstart. Not yet a split and maybe it never will be but I’ve never seen a 1W male Black Redstart look as good as this… what a stunner!
It would have been easy to say the Flapperazzi were out in force but they weren’t, maybe 20 birders at most at any one time.
It was good to meet up with a facebook friend and birder Andrew Kinghorn too. All to soon though Dave and I headed back South to Holywell Pond to have a look at the 18 or so Tundra Bean Geese before heading off to Croft Park Blyth to watching a thrilling 3-3 draw for the mighty Blyth Spartans against Hinckley United. A decent portion of Haddock and Chips rounded off the day only to listen to another soul-destroying defeat for the England RL side against the Australians.
