Midlands Misery

As I write there are probably three County lifers in  neighbouring counties… a splendid Drake Eider in Staffs, at least two Great Grey Shrikes in Staffs and a juvenile Rough-legged Buzzard in Notts. Indeed since I’ve been in Leicester there have been a least two Rough-legged Buzzards wintering in Notts.

When we do get a County rarity I either can’t get, am out of County or, as in the case of two Tundra Bean Geese at Bennion Pools in Leicester, a few County listers don’t put the news out until the birds have gone!

Ho-hum… season of goodwill and all that. There’s always next year.
