Trainspotting Again

After dipping out in Lincolnshire on Saturday, I took the opportunity to head to the Great Central Railway at Quorn and Woodhouse Station. The station has been beautifully restored to its LNER guise. In the goods yard was a display of traction engines and vintage vehicles with some vintage fairground rides as well.

On the railway, the GCR o4 2-8-0 was putting in its final appearances before its boiler ticket expires. LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 was also in service with Austerity 0-60T No22 doing turntable demonstrations. I’d really come to see the Metropolitan-Cammell Class 101 DMU power-twin E51427 & E50321 running a shuttle between Loughborough and Quorn.

A great few hours out for a saddo like me, finished off with a return to Quorn in the afternoon, this time for a good few pints of Harvest Pale.
