Pork Pie

Before any Sheffielders get too excited while Leicestershire, Melton Mowbray in particular, is famous for pork pies I’m talking about a Leicester landmark. While Swindon has its magic roundabout, Leicester has another famous roundabout… the Pork Pie Island.

The pork pie is itself Southfields Library, built in 1939 and designed by architects Symington, Prince and Pyke and probably modelled on the Central Library in Stockholm. There is a similar library Northfields in St Barnabas Rd.
