One Swallow?

Just got home from an amazing morning at the Mammoth. 300+ of yesterdays House Martin that were blogging around had cleared out sometime yesterday. There were still 200+ present with at least 60+ Swallow and 2 Sand Martin. A small passage of Swallow started just after 08.00 with most of last nights birds clearing out in small parties. From around 09.40 the wind swung round to NNE1 from NNW1 and a few minutes later we had an amazing 20 minutes or so with over 500 Swallow moving SE, most following the A607 Melton Road. At times it was hard to keep track of the numbers and I’m sure many more slipped through uncounted.

Swallow Movement

Interestingly the House Martins just carried on blogging about.
A steady passage of Meadow Pipit with 94 going SW as did the first three Skylark of the autumn. Redpolls continue to frustrate in terms of working out what they are doing; 6 went NE, 1 NW and 7SE in separate movements.

Full count on Trektellen.
